Nanhua University is a comprehensive university jointly built by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Health Commission, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, China National Nuclear Corporation, and the People's Government of Hunan Province. In March 2000, Nanhua University was formed by the merger of Central South Institute of Technology and Hengyang Medical College. In October 2002, the Sixth Research Institute of Nuclear Industry was incorporated. The university is a university supported by the National Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western Regions, a unit approved by the Ministry of Education for the excellent engineer and excellent doctor education training programs, and an undergraduate first-batch admission institution. In over 60 years of development, the university has upheld the motto "Bright Virtue, Extensive Learning, Seeking Truth, Reaching Far" and promoted the Nanhua spirit of "Diligence and Pragmatism, Dedication, Vigor and Self-improvement, and Daring to be First." It has always adhered to moral education, focused on talent cultivation, and continuously promoted the comprehensive development of its undertakings. Since the new century, the university has steadily advanced towards the goal of becoming a "first-class domestic, internationally renowned high-level university." The university has formed a discipline and professional system with engineering and medicine as its mainstays, along with the coordinated development of 9 major disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, literature, science, management, and art. It has 27 directly affiliated colleges, 6 directly affiliated hospitals (the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital, Nanhua Affiliated Hospital, Changsha Central Hospital, the Third Affiliated Hospital, and the Affiliated Public Health Hospital), 11 collaborative affiliated hospitals, and 23 collaborative graduate training units. It offers 67 undergraduate programs, 24 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 19 types of master's professional degree authorizations; 5 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points; and 3 first-level discipline postdoctoral research stations. The university recruits students from all over the country (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) and some countries and regions around the world. Currently, there are over 35,000 full-time undergraduate students, nearly 5,000 doctoral and master's students, and over 600 international students. The main campus currently has over 1,800 full-time faculty members; the directly affiliated hospitals have nearly 3,000 clinical teachers. There are nearly 640 full professors, chief physicians, and other senior professional title holders, and over 1,975 associate senior professional title holders; there are 14 national defense science and technology innovation teams, ministerial and provincial innovation teams, provincial university science and technology innovation teams, and provincial teaching teams; there are over 100 individuals who are selected for overseas high-level talent programs, Changjiang Scholars distinguished professors, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, *** outstanding young and middle-aged experts, chief scientists of national major projects, recipients of the Ministry of Education's Program for New Century Excellent Talents, and experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council; there are over 260 provincial and ministerial academic leaders, distinguished teachers, and outstanding young and middle-aged experts. The university has 15 *** first-class undergraduate programs, 21 *** featured programs, national defense key and in-demand programs, excellent programs, and comprehensive reform pilot programs, 7 *** experimental teaching demonstration centers, virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, and practical education bases, 7 *** first-class courses, and 3 *** quality courses and quality open courses. There are 35 provincial industry-university cooperation talent cultivation demonstration bases, innovation and entrepreneurship driving employment demonstration bases, university student innovation and entrepreneurship incubation demonstration bases, etc., and 425 comprehensive internship bases. |
