Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Life Information and Biomedicine) is one of the second batch of Guangdong Provincial Laboratories initiated by the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Government, with the goal of fostering and establishing national laboratories and building a "reserve team" for national laboratories. The laboratory is jointly established by the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission and Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, in collaboration with units in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao that have research foundations and application advantages in relevant fields.
Based in Shenzhen, China's most innovative city, the laboratory attracts top talent from across the country and around the world, focusing on three areas: life information, biomedicine, and medical engineering research, to conduct frontier research in the biomedical field and address major scientific issues in population and health. The laboratory will face international frontiers, stand at a national height, align with national health needs, closely focus on the goal of building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Science and Technology Innovation Center, and strive towards becoming a national laboratory, building the laboratory to international first-class high standards.
